The Mesoscale Model View forecasts Air Temperature | Wind vectors | Specific Humidity Sensible Heat Flux | Cloud Cover | Precipitation This model runs at the Met Office 4 times a day (at 00:00, 06:00, 12:00 and 18:00) giving an analysis at the base time (t) and a forecast every 3 hours from the base time (t+3, t+6) to a maximun of t+36. It covers a gridded area extending from 48°N to 63°N and 12°W to 13°E. The resolution is 0.11° (12km) in both directions.
The data arrives at the site approx 4 hours after the base time. On a typical day, data from the midnight run will appear on the pages at around 04:30, when there will an analysis for 00:00 followed by forecasts from 03:00(t+3) through to 12:00 the next day (t+36). Data from the 06:00 run will appear on the pages at around 10:30, when there will an analysis at 06:00(t) followed by forecasts from 09:00(t+3) through to 18:00 the next day (t+36). As each new data set becomes available, the later chart replaces the earlier one thus showing the latest available information. |
