(1) Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Atmospheric Physics, China Main authors appear in bold A Regional Eta-Coordinate Ocean Model (RECOM) with three-dimensional primitive equation, eta-coordinate and free-surface has been developed in the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IAP/CAS). The model is applied into two nested regions One is the Pacific Ocean, the domain covers from 99° E to 289° E and 62° S to 62° N, the horizontal resolution is 1° x 1° lon x lat. The other is the China Seas, it extends from 99° E to 143° E and 0° N to 51° N with the horizontal resolution of 0.125° x 0.125° lon x lat.Based on the nested ocean model and 3D-var data assimilation method, an coastal ocean simulation and forecasting system for the China Seas and Adjacent Areas is under develoment. Experimental results indicate that the coastal modeling system shows good skill in simulating the circulations in the China Seas and adjacent areas. Poster presentation |
